  • Raising > £ 3 billion for project development and build

The Founders

Martin McAdam - CEO

Martin has founded a number of companies including Airtricity USA which was later sold to E.ON for $1.4 billion with over 214 MW of operational assets, over 800 MW moving into construction and further 1GW in the advanced stages of development.

Martin ran the customer supply and electricity trading activities for Airtricity in Ireland, building one of the first successful utility companies with a 100% renewable portfolio. This was sold as part of the wider Airtricity Europe sale to SSE for €1.1 billion.

Martin and Alan Baker worked together to deliver the Clyde wind farm, which at the time was the world's largest onshore wind farm at 322MW.

Martin was responsible for accelerating the development of wave energy in Scotland. This included raising over £90 million to support the development of the technology and the deployment of two full-scale wave energy devices off the north coast of Scotland.

Garth Bryans - CTO

Garth founded the WavePOD consortium, bringing technology developers together for the first time to jointly fund and resource the development of common systems. The development of WavePOD has attracted £1.5 million of investment and has recently been awarded an additional £2 million of investment from the Scottish government. Garth continues to provide regular technical guidance to WavePOD as a consultant.

Garth led the New Technologies and Energy Forecasting team at Aquamarine Power, identifying and putting in place the research to enable the major steps required to commercialise the Oyster wave energy device.

Previously Garth worked at  Airtricity(now SSE Renewables) as Portfolio Risk Analyst, working to optimise the portfolio as well as forecasting market price, customer demand and renewable generation.

Garth holds a PhD from the electrical engineering departments of Queen's University, Belfast and University College Dublin following his research into the impact of tidal stream devices on electrical power systems. He also holds an MSc in Applied Physical Oceanography and a BSc in Marine Biology and Oceanography, both from the University of Wales.
